As Americans, we quickly throw things away without considering the cumulative repercussions. Paper and products made from paper represent one of the main things we toss regularly. The average American throws away over 700 pounds of paper annually, and it’s no wonder that paper accounts for over 25% of landfill waste.

Yet, if we tweak our habits just a little, it’s possible to reduce paper waste significantly. Of course, individuals need to take responsibility for their recycling and consumption habits. But if we worked together as a society, we could see tremendous results. For example, if everyone recycled all their newspapers, we would save 250 million trees a year!

So, other than not wanting more enormous landfills, what’s the number one reason to reduce paper waste?
